William Fichtner Has No Idea Why He’s Doing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
When it was announced that William Fichtner would be joining producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, everyone immediately figured he would be playing Shredder. A few days ago Fichtner confirmed it in an interview, to the surprise of no one. Today he talks a little more about the role and why he chose to face off against the Turtles while talking with IGN during The Lone Ranger press junket.
When asked why he wanted to do the project, he couldn’t really put his finger on it. He said that the film was “something [he] needed to do.” Watch the video below. You can practically feel the enthusiasm radiating off of the actor. He went on to say while he liked what he read, it’s “not the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles you’ve seen before. This is new and it’s a Michael Bay production. It’s kind of freaky.” This may not sit well with some fans. Bay and company have been trying to calm fans by saying they haven’t strayed too far from the source and had toned things down since the horrible early draft of the film leaked out a little over a year ago. With Fichtner still doing Lone Ranger press, it will be interesting to see if he gets more Shredder questions. What do you think about his response?
