Will Marvel End The Ultimate Universe In 2014?
It seems there is another big death rumor coming out of the Marvel summit. We heard a few days ago that there may be plans to kill Wolverine from the 616 universe in 2014 spinning out of events in Age of Ultron. The Marvel summit may have been one giant death summit if Bleeding Cool’s latest rumor about the Ultimate Universe turns out to be true.
Bleeding Cool is always on top of the latest comic book rumors, and they say they’ve heard there are plans for an Avengers vs The Ultimates series next year, marking the second 616/Ultimate crossover for Marvel. Peter Parker Spider-Man and Miles Morales Spider-Man teamed up, and now we might see a showdown between Captain America and President Captain America. While that is pretty big in and of itself, the result of the event may just result in the end of the Ultimate Universe in print. Before that big event, Joshua Hale Fialkov may be taking over The Ultimates from Sam Humphries. Bleeding Cool says nobody wants to go on the record for this, so obviously take it with the recommended sodium intake.
That would be a pretty big move on Marvel’s part to end the Ultimate Universe entirely. That universe has been lingering for a while, with most people’s interest focused on Bendis‘ Ultimate Spider-Man. Whether they use the opportunity to combine the two universes or just get their more successful characters into the main universe is yet to be seen. What do you think? Would you want the Ultimate Universe to complete go away?
