We May Be Seeing The Members Of The SINISTER SIX Sooner Than Expected
We know that the Sinister Six will be set up in a Spider-Man movie in the near future, due largely to the fact that they are getting their own film written by Drew Goddard. Sony made the announcement late last year that the Sinister Six and Venom would be getting their own spin-off films sometime after The Amazing Spider-Man 3 or 4. We’ve heard bits and pieces over the last few months about those films, but tonight two rather interesting tidbits have dropped that may just shed some light on one of those films.
About one week ago Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal said that the tail end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would set up “some of the other characters that will probably end up being in the Sinister Six.” Many fans took that comment to mean that we would be seeing more of the objects spotted in the trailers housed in the OsCorp cases, mainly Doc Ock‘s mechanical arms, Vulture‘s wings, and possibly even a Venom symbiote. The film’s composer, Hans Zimmer, seems to reveal that we’ll be seeing something a little more substantial by the end of the movie. Speaking with the AP (via BleedingCool), Zimmer had a rather interesting statement:
I suppose I don’t think it’s a secret anymore but suddenly the Sinister Six were sort of introduced into the movie because we had a theme for them and it became irresistible to go and shoot these scenes.
If he wrote music for the Sinister Six, that seems to indicate we’ll be seeing something more than just a display case with some tech housed within. The six will likely include Rhino, Electro, Green Goblin, and possibly The Lizard, so that leaves two members. Could we see them all assembled before or during the credits? Only time will tell.
Things do seem to be moving rather fast though. When the original report hit it mentioned that Drew Goddard would be writing the script for the Sinister Six with an eye to direct. Tonight Deadline is reporting that Goddard is nearing a deal to direct the spinoff. If they’re going ahead and locking him in to direct, then things are really rolling along rather nicely. What do you think about the news? Do you believe we’ll see all six villains assembled when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits?
