Watch Guillermo Del Toro’s Amazing Opening For THE SIMPSONS Treehouse Of Horror XXIV
Guillermo del Toro has directed one of the biggest, most ambitious, and incredibly impressive couch gags in recent Simpsons memory. The fan-favorite director will kick off this year’s Halloween special, Treehouse of Horror XXIV. Fox has released the entire couch gag sequence on their YouTube page ahead of the episode’s premiere this Sunday. The director packed it to the gills with nods and references to not only his body of work, but other iconic monster movies and horror films. You can see references to Pacific Rim, Hellboy, Blade, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Devil’s Backbone, The Shining, Hitchcock’s The Birds, and Army of Darkness just to name a few. This season of The Simpsons promises to be a big one even without del Toro‘s involvement. It was revealed earlier this week that a major cast member would bite the dust later in the season. What other films can you spot in Guillermo Del Toro‘s opening? Halloween takes over Fox‘s Animation Domination programming bloc this Sunday.
