Iron Man 3 has added another actor to their impressive and ever growing cast. Deadline reports that famous Chinese actor Wang Xueqi has joined Shane Black’s Iron Man threequel as Dr. Wu. Marvel starts filming in Beijing on Monday and announced the casting ahead of filming on location.
You may remember the rumor a few months back that Hong Kong actor Andy Lau was going to be joining the cast as an ally to Tony Stark, but backed out a few weeks later. A lot of people thought that Xueqi would take up the role Lau had been offered- Chen Lu aka Radioactive Man. However, Deadline reports that they are told Xueqi’s role “is not a huge part.” That still opens up the possibility he will indeed play Chen Lu and become the comic book villain by the end of the film or in subsequent Marvel films. However, that is only a big piece of speculation and guessing on the Internets part. Then again, he could just simply be playing a character named Dr. Wu.
Xueqi is called the Sean Connery of China, having spent over 25 years in China’s film industry. With such an addition, the cast that includes RDJ, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pierce, James Badge Dale, and others has gotten even more impressive. Whether Xueqi plays a bigger part than we’re told or if he is just Dr. Wu is something we’ll have to wait and see.
