THE WALKING DEAD Spin-Off Lands SONS OF ANARCHY Scribe
The last we heard on the potential spin-off of The Walking Dead, it was feared that the series was losing momentum and would likely fall by the wayside. But it appears that is not the case as AMC has tapped Dave Erickson to pen the script for the yet-to-be-titled series. Erickson comes to the MAC family by way of the hit FX series Sons of Anarchy, which is entering its final season. He’ll continue to work on that series as well.
Erickson will also serve as an executive producer on the project. As it stands now, the series is expected to premier next year and will focus on an entirely new group of survivors, located in different location. Robert Kirkman, who is the creator of the comic of the same name that The Walking Dead is centered on and executive producer of the series, will also assist on the new spin-off.
This potential series has many zombies fans split, as they worry it will be too much of one thing. The Walking Dead has received some criticism in the past couple seasons, with many saying that not enough is happening and they aren’t doing as much with the characters as they should be, save for the mid-season and season finales. No word on whether the spin-off will carry on with the same formula or not, but it’s a fairly safe bet. The season 4 finale of The Walking Dead airs this Sunday on AMC and several folks have promised that the episode will be “savage,” so be sure to tune in.
