Two New Banners for R.I.P.D. Released
Did you forget about this movie? I think most people have. While it was being filmed, we hardly saw any set pics and for whatever reason, Universal Studios held off on any marketing until last month. Since then, we’ve seen just one trailer (correct me if I’m wrong please) and a few posters. I don’t know the thought process behind this at all as the cast is pretty good, with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges leading the cast and the likes of Kevin Bacon, Mary Louise Parker and Robert Knepper is supporting roles. Robert Schwentke, who brought us the first installment of Red, is at the helm. If you saw the trailer, you’ll know that the film is very special effects driven and has a feel that is akin to the popular Men in Black films, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But if this film doesn’t o well, I’d look to the studio for lack of effort in getting the film some exposure.
R.I.P.D. is based on the comic series from Dark Horse, and sees a cop recruited to the Rest in Piece Department after his death. This group specializes in keep the dead and the supernatural in check and from being exposed in the living world. The film is set for a July 19th release. Below, you can check out the two newest banners, which highlight the two stars of the film, Reynolds and Bridges.
