by

tmntLast month was the 30th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With the fearsome foursome having a hit cartoon on Nickelodeon and an upcoming live-action film, they’ve had a pretty good birth year. Things are going to get even better with the release of a massive TMNT documentary called Turtle Power: The Definitive History Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The definitive look at the Turtles phenomenon has released its first trailer and box art preview thanks to CBR.

The documentary tells the story of the Turtles from their beginnings as a black and white comic to the cartoon series that really launched things into the stratosphere. Work on the project began in 2009, and the producers tell CBR that there are more than “a hundred hours of interviews from every corner of the Turtle world.” You can see the trailer featuring creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, as well as some other interesting Turtle authorities, below. The film is scheduled for an August 12th release, just in time for the live-action movie release. What do you think? Will you be picking this up?
