Totally Not Tubular: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Release Date Pushed Back Again
Here we go again. The Michael Bay produced, Jonathan Liebesman directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot release date has been pushed back even further. The film was originally slated for a Christmas 2013 release, then it was pushed back May 2014 due to budget and script problems, then it was moved to June 2014, and now it’s been throw into an August 2014 release date.
Deadline is reporting that the Turtles will now be coming out of the sewers on August 8, 2014. The decision to punt TMNT one more time was said to be due in part because Paramount has Transformers 4 ready for June 27, so the studio thought it would be a better idea to have their two big budget movies spaced out a littler farther apart than just 19 days. The August 8th date for Turtles is a very gutsy move by Paramount. James Gunn and Marvel‘s Guardians of the Galaxy is set for an August 1st release. That film has only been in production 40 odd days and already has better buzz than the Turtles, which has already wrapped and is in post production. It will be a hard fight for the Turtles to give Guardians a run for their money in week two of the sci-fi epic’s release. What do you think about the Turtles getting pushed back one more? Will they need all their ninja skills to win the battle with the Guardians?
