Title And Info For Doctor Who Season Opener: Possible Spoilers

Doctor Who’s 7th season opener has gotten a title and we’ve learned a little bit about it. If you are one of those people who like to go into the season completely cold, turn back now. If you like to know a little bit about what dangers our favorite Time Lord is facing, you are welcome to stay. The 7th season with eleventh Doctor Matt Smith premieres in the fall this year. It starts the big run-up to the 50th Anniversary in November of 2013.

The first episode of the 7th series is titled Asylum of the Daleks. The Daleks, all the Daleks, are returning in the first episode. Every kind of Dalek ever faced by The Doctor will come back. That includes…wait for it…the Special Weapons Dalek! They have only been seen on television in the 7th Doctor story Remembrance of the Daleks.

Asylum of the Daleks “is an epic Dalek adventure that kicks off the new series in explosive style! If you think you know all there is to know about the Daleks, think again…” according to Executive Producer Caro Skinner.

Steven Moffat had tweeted this picture of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan earlier in the year. It appears to be a late 60s to early 70s version of the Dalek. You can tell by the blue roundels. This is very exciting stuff. The new Daleks weren’t received to happily from the fans, often called the Power Rangers Daleks, but this seems to be bringing everything and the kitchen sink. I’d expect this to do away with the new Daleks and maybe see The Doctor facing some older style ones in the future.
