Three New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Stills Fly Online; Trailer To Debut Tuesday
Fans of Marvel’s upcoming space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy won’t have to wait too much longer for an official trailer to gawk at, drool over and…well….other things, as we’ll be getting our first look at the anticipated film Tuesday night on the Jimmy Kimmel show. The film’s star, Chris Pratt will be doing a special introduction at that time. You can see the trailer in theaters starting this Friday. Needless to say, many tears of joys and looks of wonderment will encompass the nerd world.
In the mean time, Marvel has dropped three new images to hold us over. In the images, we have another great look at the impressive team, as well as our first look at The Milano, the suped-up spacecraft the team uses to get from point A to point B, and everywhere in between. There’s also a nice close up of Chris Pratt, who stars as Peter Quill. In the USA Today article in which the images were released, director James Gunn gives a rather unique view on the film, stating that it is akin to your favorite Indie band hitting it big.
“All of a sudden, Arcade Fire becomes incredibly popular: ‘I don’t know if I like them that much anymore.’ I’ll happily deal with the cool people not thinking I’m cool anymore and making bigger movies!” the director says with a laugh.
Gunn was going for a very specific feel to the film, which is said to be a bit of drama, sci-fi, romance and humor. Pratt’s Peter Quill is there to provide a lot of the film’s humor, using a lot of references to the 80’s.
“Being stuck in space with no accountability makes for a strange combination of youthful vibrancy and cluelessness in a childlike man,” says Pratt, whose character has a Han Solo-esque rogue quality in the beginning.
“He does some things that most people wouldn’t get away with. But part of his arc is being willing to essentially sacrifice himself for the greater good of other people.”
There’s a lot more to this article, so be sure to click on over to read the rest, where a great story description is also given. Here’s what we can expect to see: The movie teams five disparate personalities: Peter Quill (Pratt), aka Star-Lord, was taken from Earth as a 9-year-old, possesses a mysterious orb artifact and pilots the Milano, a muscle car of a spaceship. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is connected to Thanos, arguably the cosmos’ biggest baddie. Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is a muscular dude you don’t want to upset. And then there are the aliens Rocket Raccoon and Groot (computer-generated characters voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively), who are best pals and potentially the biggest things to happen to pop culture since Chewbacca.
I don’t know about you, but I’m more than excited to see what James Gunn and company have in store for us. This is probably Marvel’s most anticipated film since Avengers, as it takes fans into a whole new realm, delving into the cosmic side of things. It’s a unique concept with a unique director and cast. Be sure to check back here to Comic Book Therapy tomorrow night where we’ll be sure to have the full trailer for you to lust over. In the mean time, check out these awesome new images.
