Thor Will Have Some Girl Problems In The Dark World: Plus Two New Stills Released
This week should be full of Thor: The Dark World goodness. We know we’ll be getting our first theatrical trailer sometime this Tuesday, but it looks like we are indeed going to get new pics and information most of the week. USA Today was the first to strike. In the dead of the night they posted two new images and a little explanation of the Thor/Jane Foster relationship we’ll be seeing in the sequel directed by Game Of Thrones’ Alan Taylor.
In Thor‘s solo movie he promised that he would do whatever it takes to get back to Jane (Natalie Portman). Well, he came back to earth in The Avengers but he didn’t check in with her. We will see some repercussions from that according to Chris Hemsworth, who said “Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up. Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.“
Marvel’s main man Kevin Feige weighed in saying that that Thor and Jane will sort of switch places from the first two movies. Jane is in terrible danger so Thor has to take her to Asgard to keep her safe. Besides getting some fancy clothes, as you can see in the new pictures, she will have some adjusting to do according to Feige. “So while Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films (Thor and The Avengers), this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard.“
If dealing with an upset Jane who is adjusting to life in Asgard wasn’t enough relationship woes, Thor also has to deal with the other lady in his life- Sif. Feige described how that will complicate things, saying “”It’s superhero action, but it’s the familiar territory of a love triangle where the parents think your girlfriend is wrong for you. That’s how the best of these movies work.“
Don’t worry though, the sequel isn’t just going to be a love story. Hemsworth teased all the action by touching on the fact they’ve changed Thor‘s fighting style up a little: “I really wanted to ramp up his skill set in battle. He’s not just this Viking throwing the hammer. Here he’s more demigod with dynamic moves we haven’t seen before.” There are a few more small tidbits about Loki and director Alan Taylor in the USA Today piece. You can click here to check those out. The trailer is coming Tuesday, so stay tuned to CBT to see it when it hits. What do you think about Hemsworth’s and Feige‘s comments? What do you think of the new pics?
