There Are Already A ‘Number Of Scripts’ In The Works For The SPIDER-MAN Spin-Offs

by

spider-man bannerEarlier today we learned that Sony was planning to make Spider-Man spin-off films for both heroes and villains. Sony Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal said that the studio was going to rapidly expand their movie universe with these films (read that here). That was pretty cryptic, but this evening some comments from Sony Pictures Entertainment chief Michael Lynton added another tiny detail about Sony‘s plans.

Deadline reports that Lynton expanded on Pascal‘s earlier comments about the spin-off films by saying “We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works.” It seems things are farther along than we originally thought. If scripts are being worked on, then Sony has the characters chosen that they want to use. Words is that the Sinister Six is one of those scripts being worked on right now, but who or what else is in development remains to be seen. Sony is double checking everything since Lynton went on to say the studio is “working closely with Marvel and Disney.

Some of the other characters could be anyone like the long gestating Venom movie from Josh Trank, Carnage, Black Cat, Scarlett Spider, or maybe even Miles Morales (though that would be a harder sell). Any Spidey related character is on the table, so there’s no shortage of possibilities. What do you think about all this spin-off news? Any characters in particular you’d like to see?
