The Walking Dead To Stumble Into A Movie Theater?

This is only a rumor for now, I repeat only a rumor, but there could possibly be a Walking Dead movie in theaters a few years down the road.

According to Bloody Disgusting, they’ve heard from some friends “working closely with The Walking Dead crew and AMC” that there have been some talk of a feature film. Bloody Disgusting stresses that they are only rumblings and that the idea has been passed off in non-business talks.

This would make sense considering Walking Dead was originally pitched as a film before it was picked up by AMC. While not official, the word from BD was that it would be a series finale type deal. Take this with a grain of salt, but it could happen. Sex and the City, X-Files, and the Smurfs to name a few have made the leap from small screen to big screen. Then on the other side of the coin you have the much discussed 24 movie as well as Lost and The Sopranos movies that never came about.

This would be a pretty exciting development, but it likely wouldn’t happen for several years. You’re just now on the Prison arc, and Kirkman is well into the 100′s for the comics. Still, it is exciting to think of all the possibilities of a full length motion picture featuring Rick and company.  What do you think of a potential Walking Dead movie?

I'm a comic book and movie nerd who loves to share news I find interesting and hope you do as well. I'm a big Doctor Who fan and sci-fi in general. My favorite comic characters you ask? Well Thor, Wolverine, and Daredevil.

If they did it to close out the series, I’d say yes. But if they tried to do it in the middle of the run, it could backfire.
