The Identity Of ARROW’s Black Canary Revealed

black canaryIt was announced that season 2 of CW’s Arrow would feature the Black Canary. We even got a quick glimpse of the femme fatale in the season 2 sizzle reel. A lot of fans were happy until it was stated that Laurel Lance would not be the famous hero. Laurel’s mother, Dinah the original Black Canary, popped up toward the end of the first seasons but she wasn’t Black Canary either. That left fans scratching their heads as they tried to figure out who the little supersonic songstress could be. It seems that the CW’s president spilled the beans. Obviously, there are spoilers so read on at your own risk.

E! Online (via GreenArrowTV.Com) ran a quote where CW president Mark Pedowitz spilled the beans. The  Arrow showrunners probably aren’t too pleased, but he’s the big boss. What can you do?

I hope she brings a certain amount of conflict since she’s playing the sister of Laurel Lance. It’s an origin story. I don’t know if this character is the Black Canary or not the Black Canary, so it is in origin story. But remember Laurel Lance was the Black Canary in the DC universe.

So it appears that Sara, Laurel’s long lost and presumed dead sister, will be coming back in a big way. Caity Lotz will be portraying Sara Lance. The character, as you well know, was with Oliver on the Queen’s Gambit when it crashed. Oliver cheated on Laurel with her sister, so we can expect another tense love triangle storyline whenever she makes her appearance on the show. While Laurel isn’t the Black Canary (at least for now), they are keeping it in the family. What do you think about Sara Lance coming back and taking on the Black Canary mantle?
