THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR: New Pics Released And David Tennant Talks The Time War

by

doctor who bannerNext week fans will be in front of their TVs and select movie theater screens to see the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, The Day of The Doctor. While we wait to see what sort of twists and turns Steven Moffat has in store for the three Doctors, the BBC have released a whole batch of new pictures from the highly anticipated episode. We see Matt Smith, David Tennant, John Hurt, Jenna Coleman, and Billie Piper of course, but we also get a great look at the re-tweaked Zygons, Queen Elizabeth I and even Kate Stewart (current Scientific Head of UNIT and daughter of the late Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart).

If the pictures weren’t enough, David Tennant has talked a little bit about one of the story’s plot points- The Time War. After first being teased way back in 2005, we’re finally going to get a look at what The Doctor did that caused the Time Lords and the Daleks to be time locked. You can watch the video below to see everything Tennant had to say, but about the war itself he states “I suppose the Doctor’s journey has been one of rehabilitation after the Time War that we know so little about that he was a recent refugee from, we assume. And actually I suppose that story in many ways is told and brought up to date by this very special that we’re filming at the moment.” What do you think about the new pics? I think they raise an interesting question: could Tennant‘s Doctor be the one traveling along after The Waters of Mars? I mean Rose seems to be with the Hurt Doctor the entire time. She could just be the Bad Wolf Rose. We’ll have to wait and see on November 23rd.
