The Avengers Rakes In Over $1 Billion Dollars

We’ve ran a few box office reports about The Avengers in the last few weeks, they aren’t particularly exciting but they show how successful a movie is. This update is a little more exciting than the rest- The Avengers has passed the $1 billion dollar mark! Marvel’s The Avengers has surpassed The Dark Knight by taking the #11 spot on the list of all-time highest grossing movies, and it is still climbing. It has shattered records by raking in $1,002,100,000 in just 19 days. The international numbers are over $628 million with domestic box office number over $373 million. Below is Marvel’s official press release put out just hours ago:

UPDATED 5/13: “Marvel’s The Avengers” smashed the all-time second weekend box office record with an estimated $103.2M. The film passed the $300M mark on Saturday May 12, its ninth day of release, also setting a new industry record. Additionally, fans assembled across the globe this weekend, helping “Marvel’s The Avengers” earn $95.4M internationally.

Globally, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is poised to break the $1 billion mark on May 13, its 19th day in release, making it one of only 12 films in history to reach that milestone. The film has now earned an estimated $373.2 million at the domestic box office and $628.9 million internationally.

“We’re obviously thrilled with the global success of ‘The Avengers,’” said Robert A. Iger, Disney’s Chairman and CEO. “It’s a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come.”
