The Amazing Spider-Man DVD Review
By Michael Worthan on Oct 21, 2012 with Comments 2
I was given the opportunity to get a first look at not only the Amazing Spider-Man DVD, but also the extras and deleted scenes that come along with owning this movie. The first thing I did after getting this in the mail, you know besides a slight happy dance that then became a major happy dance, I popped this in and went immediately for the special features. I started watching the deleted and extended scenes and quickly realized that although these would have been great for a directors cut, it was a good idea to take them out for the cinematic feature.
We get to see some more in depth looks at scenes that not only build up to the death of Uncle Ben, but also deals with the transformation of Dr. Curt Connors (played by actor Rhys Ifans) and his actual reasons for constantly turning to the serum that turns him into the horrifying villain the Lizard.
After watching the deleted scenes, and watching the movie minus the director Marc Webb’s commentary, I then watched it in exactly that way, with the directors commentary on. It was an interesting watch, and sort of a struggle for me as I’ve never been a huge fan of watching DVDs that way. Still though nonetheless I suggest buying this DVD if you’re a Spidey fan and enjoying all the amazing extras that come with all the different sets.

How did you already get a copy of this movie? I thought it didn’t come out until the 9th? That’s great that you’ve already gotten it though, and it sounds like you had a great time watching the bonus features. I watched this movie in theaters, and although I did like it, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing it. I do want to see those bonus features though, so I’m going to rent it with my Blockbuster @Home package instead. I was able to add it to the top of my queue already too, so I’ll get it a couple of days after it releases. I’m excited to watch it again, and I’ve already planned to have a couple of my friends I work with at DISH come over and watch when I get the rental.
Sony sent us the movie for review. They are great!
