Teasers And Spoilers: Feige On The Infinity Gauntlet And Thor’s Post-Credits Scene Revealed
If the title of the article and the banner you see right up there / wasn’t enough of a warning for you, THERE ARE SPOILERS in this article and some teasers at things to come. If you don’t want to know what they are back out now and read any of the other fine articles on this very site. If you do want to know, then keep reading to find out what Kevin Feige has to say about the Infinity Gauntlet and how one of Thor‘s two post-credits sequences was spoiled.
ScreenRant got the chance to ask Feige a few questions at the press junket for Thor: The Dark World. So far in the Marvel Universe we’ve had the cosmic cube and a possible Infinity Gem. Add that to the fact Thanos had a smiling cameo at the end of The Avengers, and it looks like we may be seeing a big cosmic event somewhere down the line. Odin did have artifacts like the Eye of Agamotto and the Infinity Gauntlet in his vault in the first Thor. The site asked Feige if we could see Thanos getting hold of the Infinity Gauntlet for Avengers 3. Feige says:
Well, I don’t know that I would spell it out that clearly, necessarily, but certainly fans of the comics could surmise that all of this is leading somewhere. That Joss’ decision to have Thanos turn around and smile for the audience at the end of ‘Avengers’, our reveal, was always the plan…And where it goes from there, we’ll see… But yes, the MacGuffin of ‘Guardians’ certainly plays into MacGuffins of the past.
The MacGuffin is a term for an object in a movie that everyone is fighting over or searching for. Feige seems to hint that all the MacGuffins we’ve seen so far will be picked up on in Guardians of the Galaxy. We know Thanos is in the James Gunn directed flick, so maybe he’ll start collecting the other gems. He did let Loki have the Mind Gem in Avengers.
From speculation to more concrete spoilers, one of the two scenes after Thor have been revealed. We know there will be a mid-credits and a post-credits scene in the film (probably to make up for the disappointing one in Iron Man 3). One will probably be a humorous little scene while the other will tie into another film. It seems the film Thor will tie into is Guardians of the Galaxy. FilmInk (via ThorMovies.Tumblr) let the details slip in their November issue. Benicio Del Toro will apparently be popping up as The Collector after the credits have played. We’ve heard rumors that the actor would be appearing in two Marvel films, but now it looks to be confirmed. The Collector may be trying to collect something Thor, Loki, Odin, or Malekith have in the sequel. The exact details remain to be seen. What do you think about the Infinity Gauntlet possibly being the focus of Avengers 3?
