I had the great pleasure of being in a round table interview at WonderCon with Matt Bomer, the voice of Superman and Clark Kent in Superman Unbound, this past weekend. Now as I simply went through the Q&A with Molly Quinn (voice of Supergirl and one of the stars of Castle) for my last article it was because we had more then a few minutes with her and some very amazing and valid questions were brought up. With Matt Bomer his personality and sense of humor got the best of us and only a few questions were brought to the table.

So the recap is what I’m doing here. Matt Bomer was at one point connected to the possible Brett Ratner Superman movie that we all know never came true, when asked about what being able to play Superman albeit voice acting he said “this character has been oddly enough connected to my career at one point in time or another and I am very happy to have been able to do this.” On the mythos and legendary number of people who have voiced Superman he was asked if he looked at any of them “No, I really didn’t I wanted to come at this character and make it my own, and hopefully people think I did a great job because I would love another chance to voice him.”

With Tim Daly being noted as the quintessential voice of Superman, much like Mark Hamill, and Kevin Conroy are for the Joker and Batman, Bomer has an uphill battle winning over long time fans of DC’s animated genre, but with his true passion to do it right, and his love for Superman I feel he’s not only done the red and blue suit justice, but he brought some feeling and a different type of life to this classic Superman tale.

I was given the great opportunity to do a roundtable interview with a few of the stars of DC Entertainments new animated feature Superman Unbound.

Originally Superman story arch written by DC’s very own, and widely vaunted Geoff Johns. This story revolves around Superman’s first true encounter with Brainiac as all of encounters were Braniacs probes. It also brings to light the city of Kandors fate, and Supergirls struggles. Originally just a five part arch some more amazing stuff has been added by the animated feature screen writer Bob Goodman exploring more of the background between characters. This is my first interview of two with Castle star and Supergirl voice Molly Quinn.

Q1: Bob [Goodman] Said that when he wrote the part he made Supergirl and Kara very different characters. Did that make your job harder or more difficult in any way?
MQ: No, it made it so much fun and challenging. She was very sweet and soft spoken as Kara, but as Supergirl she know that she has these powers and is going to use them, this is my identity and I’m not going to let what happened to me happen to anyone else.

Q2: Supergirl has been portrayed in a number of ways, how did you prepare for this role? Did you go back and look at any of the other portrayals?

MQ: I did actually, I looked at them all of the actually. The one I did take the most from was from Superman/Batman Apocalypse. I think that Summer Glau did such an amazing job voicing the character, and it was really intimidating because people really love this movie. I hope that I brought Supergirl to life just as much as she did, and that’s the standard that I held myself to.

Q3: As you said before you have done voice acting before, but do you find it difficult voice acting alone rather then acting against a cast member?

MQ: No, I don’t really view anything as difficult it’s just the situation you’re given and you do the best you can with it. Being able to do it by yourself gives you more freedom and the ability to do it a few different ways that feel right to the scene.

Molly Quinn was a pleasure to be able to ask a few questions to, and when you get the shot I definitely feel you should watch Superman Unbound when given the chance, she definitely lives up to the character. Stay tuned for my interview with Matt Bomer who is the voice of Superman!

TV Guide reports that actress Molly Quinn will be portraying the role of Supergirl in an upcoming untitled DC Comics animated feature. The film will take after the Superman: Brainiac story arc from Geoff Johns.

wolverinept, SDCC ’12: Castle’s Molly Quinn To Voice Supergirl In Upcoming DC Animated Feature

Although this year there was no “Castle” panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, that did not stop one of the actresses in the series, and self-proclaimed fan-girl, Molly Quinn to be at the convention. The reason of going is not only because she is a fan-girl but also because she wanted to be with her “Castle” co-star, Nathan Fillion, who was at the “Firefly” cast panel celebrating the tenth anniversary of the legendary science fiction series directed by Joss.

However, this time is Molly who gets all the attention and she cant hide her enthusiasm in being part of the project. It seems that the young actress is going to give voice to Supergirl in an upcoming DC animated feature in which we will see another adaptation of one of her stories, presumably related to Brainiac and the city of Kandor.

Speaking to TV Guide the actress had this to say:

“I’m so excited to be a part of the DC family, not to mention helping Superman fight crime,” “I’m thrilled about our ‘Super’ project. And that my character happens to be named Supergirl? Well, that’s just a bonus.”

The story seems to be the arc titled “Superman: Brainiac”, which corresponds to Action Comics # 866-870. A story written by Geoff Johns and featuring pencils by Gary Frank that revolves around Superman’s nemesis Brainiac and the bottle city of Kandor, which survived the destruction of Krypton, Superman’s home planet.

Long before Superman came to Earth, the Kryptonians had battled Brainiac, a cold, cruel alien obsessed with the control of knowledge. Brainiac now has its sights on destroying Earth and end the last son of Krypton once and for all. This epic battle will change the world of superman forever.

The as-yet-untitled project will be out on home video and digital download sometime in 2013.

Welcome back for day 8 of 31 in 31, the movie chosen for today is Slither written and directed by James Gunn, starring Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker, and the very popular Nathan Fillion. Not your ordinary horror film Slither is more of a cult sensation mixed with humor and a sensational ammount of gore. When an alien plague takes over a small town turing its residents into zombies, and other types of mutated creatures, it is up to Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion) to not only save the woman he loves, but figure out exactly what is happening.

If you are in the mood to be grossed out, and still laugh then this is then Slither is the flick for you. The horrific scenes that occur and the characters reactions to the gore, and the alien invasion will have you wondering how much more gross this movie can get, while at the same time truly enjoying this style of film making.
