Kevin Conroy IS Involved With Batman: Arkham Origins After All

A lot of fans were absolutely gutted when we heard last month that Kevin Conroy, the definitive voice of Batman, would not be involved with the new Arkham video game. NAG Magazine broke the news that WB Games Montreal wanted to go with a younger actor since this is Batman during his early years. It turns out they were just flat out wrong.

Conroy appeared at Dallas Comic-Con this weekend and announced during his panel that he was indeed working on the “next Arkham game” and that he had been doing so for the past “nine or ten months.” Because he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, he couldn’t talk about the game in detail. Roughly the first 5 minutes of the video for the full panel deals with voice acting for video games.

Conroy doesn’t call it Arkham Origins, but the time he’s been working would suggest that’s what he is referring to. Now there is a chance he’s talking about Rocksteady‘s game. They passed on doing the next Arkham to work on a different original Batman game. Conroy could be doing that and not Arkham, then again he could be doing both and has been recording nonstop. We’ve heard a lot of news about it and seen a lot of pictures from the game, but the first teaser trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins has finally hit. The trailer features Deathstroke and Batman engaging in some sword to gauntlet combat. We still haven’t seen any actual gameplay, but if it’s half as good as the cinematic cutscene we are in for a real treat. Batman: Arkham Origins, the first Batman game from WB Games Montreal, comes out for all major consoles October 25th. What do you think of the first trailer?

Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.

Scott Snyder’s War On Horses Continues

If you’ve been keeping up with Scott Snyder’s Twitter page, you know the writer has declared war on horses by abusing his powers as Batman head writer. The scribe has killed a total of three horses in the pages of his Death of the Family arc, and countless others which were probably graciously cut by DC’s editorial staff. Mr. Snyder has had The Joker shoot a horse in the face in a backup story, set a horse ablaze to run down the halls of Arkham Asylum, and finally had Mr. Freeze freeze and then punch a horse into little horse bits. This man has repeatedly dodged questions on Twitter as to why he hates horses so much. He has flippantly stated the following:

Mr. Snyder continues to avoid answering the hard hitting question of why he dislikes horses. The writer seems to have a personal vendetta against our equine friends. Where does this deep-seated hatred come from? One could not venture to guess, but we have obtained this footage of someone taking their hatred from the land of fantasy to the reality. Is that Scott Snyder punching a horse in the face? It’s not for us to say, but it does look like him doesn’t it?

Mr. Snyder continues to taunt fans about horse hatred. Earlier today he sent out the link to the following Amazon review [click to see larger image] through is personal Twitter. This man must be stopped before more fictional horses are destroyed. I propose a petition to prevent Mr. Snyder from ever writing a My Little Pony book. Just think what he would do to them?! *if you can’t tell, this is an article in the style of The Onion making fun of the supposed horse controversy and the gif is from Blazing Saddles.

Guess Who Returns In Batman #13

Batman has finally defeated the Court of Owls, but he can’t breath easy just yet. An old face is returning in the pages of Batman #13 as Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion kick off a new storyline called Death of the Family starring The Joker.

The announcement has this brutal teaser. The Joker was last seen in Detective Comic, where he voluntarily let the Dollmaker carve off his face while in Arkham Asylum. Snyder talks about the return:

Joker is my favorite villain of all time. Not just in comics. In everything – film, books, TV. He’s the greatest, hands down. So this story is something extremely important and personal to me – something I’ve been building in my head ever since I started working in Gotham. Basically, this is my big exploration of the Joker, my ‘Arkham Asylum’ or ‘The Killing Joke,’ only bigger in scope. Bottom line: it’s the biggest, baddest, most shocking Joker story I could tell.
