Stephen Amell Talks Arrow Villains
Last night it was announced that Deadshot would be appearing in the third episode of CW’s Arrow. Today Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) talked a little bit about the two villains popping up early on in the series.
At a press conference, GreenArrowTV.com got a few words with the star about the newly announced villain. Amell was hesitant to talk about Deadshot, but he did tease the appearance a little. After finally confirming that Deadshot would appear, Amell talked about how the meeting will go for Deadshot with Arrow:
Unfavorably, for Deadshot, I would suspect. I can tell you that they are going to be after some of the same people. Oliver does have a code. Obviously, it doesn’t include ‘no killing,’ as we’ve established so far, but there is a code. I don’t think Deadshot has it. I don’t think he respects his methods, which puts him in Oliver’s sights
Deadshot will appear in episode 3, but in episode 2 we will see Kelly Hu (X2, Phineas and Ferb) as China White. The character first appeared in Green Arrow: Year One. Amell talked about working with Hu:
It was awesome, man. I had seen her in X2, and I had seen her in Vampire Diaries, and she came up, we did some cool fight training… she’s enthusiastic. I get to speak to her in Mandarin, which was fun. She’s great. It’s cool, because we took the Arrow costume and tried to make it as functional and as real as possible, so it was cool to see the next iteration of a villain. Her character’s costume… the idea that these would be real people, so seeing her in costume looks great. She’s awesome.
I think it’s safe to say that Amell thinks Hu is awesome. I’ll admit I wasn’t too excited about Arrow when it was first announced, but I’m starting to look forward to it a little. I think this show has potential, and all involved are working pretty hard to elevate the show above some of Smallville’s failings. Are you getting excited for the October 10th premiere? What do you think about all the villains?
