STAR WARS VII Rumor Roundup: The Millennium Falcon Set, London Auditions, And More

star-wars-episode-vii-logoSince the only thing official confirmed about Star Wars VII is that it will be out December 18, 2015 and R2-D2 will star, we have nothing to sink our teeth into than the occasional rumor. There have been a lot of rumors and speculation about what J.J. Abrams has in store and who he may want to help bring the film to life, but not much has been confirmed or even denied for that matter. A few new rumors for the highly anticipated film have popped up, this time involving one of the universe’s most famous ships.

star warsYahoo! Movies have heard that the Millennium Falcon is not only a part of the Star Wars sequel, but it has already been built. According to them a full-scale Falcon has been built for filming. If true, that means the ship and its interior is an important part of the new Star Wars trilogy plans:

According to a source close to production, the iconic Millennium Falcon has already been built for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’… and it could be bigger than ever.
A full-scale 1:1 Millennium Falcon has been built as well as the interiors of the ship for filming. The Falcon is done – inside and out. The sets were built off-site, ready to move when Lucasfilm/Bad Robot were ready to move into Pinewood.

If Disney is putting up the money to create such a huge set, they’re planning on getting their money’s worth out of it. That could mean it’s going to be used throughout the new trilogy in a big way and/or Disney is going to use it as a centerpiece of the Star Wars park expansion that’s coming in the near future. It’s one of the most recognizable ships not only in the Star Wars universe, but science fiction in general. We’ll have to wait and see if this is true, but this is easily one of the most believable rumors we’ve heard.

A new bit of casting speculation popped up over Thanksgiving from Jedi News. The site posted a Q&A with their movie insider Jedi Master SQL. At the end of the session, some new names popped up. Three actresses were mentioned for unspecified roles. Take it with a grain of salt for sure:

Every week I hear more amazing actors linked with the roles, and I feel that we will have an incredible cast when all is said and done. Just this past two weeks I have heard the names of Emmanuelle Chriqui, Alexis Dziena, and Taissa Farmiga all linked with roles – all exceptionally talented actresses. Whether any of them are cast is still unknown, but if you consider the quality of the people they are looking at – you can see the quality of the effort.

Emmanuelle Chriqui is probably best known for her work on Entourage, Alexis Dziena for Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, and Taissa Farmiga for American Horror Story: Coven. Those are three good actresses, so any or all would be a fine addition to the cast.

Finally, IGN was on the scene of the open auditions in London for the film. They spoke to many of the Star Wars hopefuls about their love of the franchise. In the final moments of the video you can hear how the entire thing was indeed a big gimmick as we all knew it would be, though one gentleman was asked back for a second round of auditions. What do you think about the latest goings on in that galaxy far, far away?
