STAR WARS REBELS Unveils A New Character And A Plethora Of Toys
The preview night for Toy Fair gave us our first look at most of the line-up for the Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise that will be hitting store shelves this summer as well as a few characters from Transformers: Age of Extinction. Now we have a roundup of Star Wars Rebels figures, LEGOs, and a new character introduction video from Lucasfilm.
We were introduced to Freddie Prinze Jr.‘s Jedi character from Rebels earlier this week, but another character was accidentally unveiled on the box of a LEGO set for the show. To rectify that problem, the official Star Wars YouTube page released the introduction video for Ezra. The young rebel is a Force user, but he has no clue what the Force is. He does have a lightsaber though. It looks like it might have been made from the remnants of a blaster. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s true, but you can watch the full video below.
Some LEGO sets for Rebels were released featuring two spaceships, The Phantom and The Ghost (via Newsarama).
The Phantom is a small ship consisting of 234 pieces that will set you back $24.99. It includes mini-figures of Ezra Bridger and a droid named Chopper.
The Ghost is a 929 piece juggernaut that will cost $89.99. It includes four minifigs- Kanan Jarrus the “cowboy Jedi,” Hera Syndulla (a Twi’lek female), Zeb Orrelios (an unspecified character of unknown origins), and a Stormtrooper.
Two Hasbro figures were revealed as well. One is Kanan, who we’re hearing a lot about lately, and the Inquisitor. We’ve heard a lot about the villainous Sith as well, and it’s probably safe to say we’ll see him facing off against Kanan sometime soon.
Tonight’s Hasbro preview presentation unleashed a whole slew of other Star Wars Rebels merchandise. There was a whole line of miniatures styled off the classic army men toys called Star Wars: Command. You can check them out below, but it’s worth mentioning there is a mysterious female Mandalorian who works with the rebels. More will be revealed about her soon according to Newsarama. All of the “good guy” figures have oval bases while the “bad guy” figures have hexagonal bases.
There were also three3.75″ figures unveiled. The first is of Zeb, a character based on Ralph Mcuarrie‘s original design for Chewbacca. You may recognize it from Dark Horse‘s The Star Wars miniseries adapting George Lucas‘ original draft for the film. Following that is Agent Kallus, an Imperial Agent for the Empire. Then there is that new kid called Ezra. Check out the hilt of his lightsaber. That’s interesting, isn’t it?
And finally there are pics of the Inquisitor‘s Tie Advance Starfighter and an Imperial Walker. Both are based on Ralph McQuarrie‘s early designs for the original Star Wars film, as are the vast majority of things in Star Wars Rebels.
