SMAUG Takes Flight On An Air New Zealand 777 For THE HOBBIT Premiere
In twelve short days Smaug the Magnificent will be swooping into theaters as Peter Jackson‘s Hobbit sequel opens in theaters in both 3D and 48fps showings. Before the premiere though, Smaug will be taking flight on the side of a brand new New Zealand Air 777-300 that has just been unveiled today with much fanfare.
Then new plane will be taking its maiden voyage this evening as it makes the long trip from New Zealand to the LA premiere. Smaug can be seen in his full glory for the first time since promotion for the film began. We’ve seen part of the dragon’s head in a few of the trailers, but this is the only picture of the full body of the beast brought to life by motion capture and Benedict Cumberbatch. You can check out the time-lapse video of the plane’s transformation, pictures of Smaug nestled up against the plane, and Air New Zealand’s latest Hobbit themed safety video below. What do you think about the Smaugtastic ride that will soon take to the skies? The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters December 13th.
