Alan Silvestri Reveals His Fellings On Scoring Marvel’s The Avengers!

After hearing rumors last month that composer Alan Silvestri might be tapped to score the The Avengers, his official website recently confirmed the rumor to be true; Silvestri will indeed be providing the music for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers film. He recently talked with Marvel.com about it.
This isn’t the first time Silvestri has worked with Marvel (and an Avenger for that matter), having provided the music for Captain America: The First Avenger this past summer which proved to be a fantastic score for a comic book-based film. Now with avengers it will be interesting to see what kind of score we will get. Speaking with Marvel.com he shares some of his thoughts about this experience and his overall felling:
“This is actually a very unique experience [for me]. I’ve worked on films where there have been a number of stars and certainly worked on films where there have been characters of equal weight in terms of their level of importance and profile in the film, but this one is somewhat extreme in that regard because each of these characters has their own world and it’s a very different situation.
It’s very challenging to look for a way to give everyone the weight and consideration they need, but at the same time the film is really about the coming together of these characters, which implies that there is this entity called the Avengers which really has to be representative of all of them together. It’s always an interesting process, of confronting the film and having a chance to live with it a bit and internalize it a little bit. I am just at the beginning stages of all of that right now and it’s feeling very good. I am looking forward to seeing the evolution of this film. Joss Whedon has really done something magnificent and I think everyone who loves Marvel and their films will especially enjoy this one.”

Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers assemble in theaters on May 4, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Cobie Smulders.
