SHAZAM!: New Look Of Captain Marvel

One of the most asked about characters due to his absence in the beginning of the New 52,

Shazam is now officially a part of the universe with a new look, back story and name. Shazam? Why not Capatain Marvel you ask? Geoff Johns states:

We changed his name for a lot of reasons. One of them is that Shazam is the word most associated with the character, so we just felt it made sense — a lot of people already thought that was his name, anyway.

The name change makes sense a little bit, but he will still be Captain Marvel to me. About the character he’s described as having…

…a cowl, a lightning bolt on his chest, and a penchant for causing electrical appliances to explode, Shazam still bears similarities to the original hero, including the power to change from feisty teen Billy Batson into a superhero by uttering the magic word that is now his name…. His place in the world will be far more rooted in fantasy and magic than it ever was before

Shazam is set to debut in Justice League #7
