Sean Maher Cast as Shrapnel In CW’s ARROW
CW’s Arrow has been digging into the rich cache of treasures that is the DC Comics database for its cast of characters for its second season. SO far, we know that Black Canary, Bronze Tiger, Flash, Sin and others will be showing up at some point during the season. You can add one more baddie tot hat list as it was announced today that Sean Maher will be joining the series as Mark Scheffer, better know to most as Shrapnel.
According to THR, Shrapnel will place Starling City under the fierce grip of terror and threatens the life of Sebastian Blood, played by Kevin Alejandro. In the comics, Scheffer doesn’t have much of a back story, but it is believed that he at one time had a wife and two children. He is a serious threat, however, being made of metal and possessing super strength. The character is set to appear in the 10th episode of Arrow.
Many fans will know Maher from his time spent on the hit series Firefly and the corresponding film, Serenity. This marks the second alum from the Joss Whedon-created series, with Summer Glau joining the cast earlier this year as Isabel Rochev. If the network continues to tap into their resources like this, the so-so Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series over on ABC will have some work to do. One of the biggest issues fans have with that series is it lack of comic book characters and the over abundance of name dropping. If that series were to take a note or two from the CW (I can’t believe I just wrote that), they could have a massive hit on their hands. You can catch Arrow on the CW each Wednesday night at 8pm.
