SDCC ’13: So It Really Seems Like Galactus Will Destroy The Ultimate Universe

by

hungerMarvel held their Ultimate Universe panel at Comic-Con late this evening, and they made some pretty big announcements about what’s coming up in the that corner of the other Marvel universe.  We’ve heard a lot about Hunger, the upcoming event that sees the 616 Galactus jumping over to the Ultimate Universe after the events of Age of Ultron, but what comes during and after that may just change the Ultimate Universe completely. Or destroy it entirely.

The panel, including Joshua Hale Fialkov, Brian Bendis, and Leonard Krik, started off by teasing Ultimates Disassembled. That particular story will see Ultimate Hulk getting not one, but two Infinity Gauntlets. Whoever survives that will then have to deal with the events of Hunger and the 616 Galactus looking to snack on their universe. The panelists teased the involvement of characters like the Ultimate Kree, Ultimate Chitari, and the Silver Surfer, but they also said the cover of issue #4 will sport an Ultimate Universe Captain Marvel.

Then came the big announcement- Cataclysm: The Ultimates Last Stand. Bendis and Mark Bagley will be tackling that Galactus-centered story. The heroes of the Ultimate Universe will find out that there’s a Marvel Universe. That’s pretty big on its own, but they also find out they can’t send Galactus back there because he will just destroy the world. Bendis said the story will break open the barrier between the Ultimate Universe and the Marvel Universe. It will also follow up things left open in Spider-Men, which saw Mile Morales and the real Peter Parker joining forces. Now all of the above lines up with some rumors we’ve heard over the past several months that some Ultimate Characters (Miles Morales) will be making the jump to the Marvel Universe because the Ultimate Universe will be destroyed. Now this doesn’t confirm it, but it makes it seem much more likely. You can read the entire rundown of the Ultimates panel by clicking here. What do you think about the possibility of that world being destroyed?
