SDCC ’12: Kevin Eastman To Write TMNT Annual 2012
IDW and Nickelodeon announced at Comic Con that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Annual this year would be written and drawn by the original co-creator Kevin Eastman.
The 2012 annual will be 48 pages long and will be written by Eastman with co-writer Tom Waltz. Eastman will do all of the art in the book. It has been almost 20 years since Kevin Eastman created everyone’s favorite heroes in a half shell. Eastman talks about the milestone and writing the annual:
After nearly 20 years I find myself once again fully engrossed in the wonderful mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and having the absolute best time in my life! The intense creative energy flying around between IDW and Nickelodeon is when this idea was inspired and born, so with this incredible team, I’m back on the drawing board–hanging with the boys, knocking out a full blown epic–and it is AWESOME!
The annual will be out this October. According to IDW, it will follow Raphael and Casey as they find themselves in the middle of a criminal escapade gone wrong. Rival clans jokey for power in the NYC criminal underworld. The story will set up a big future storyline as well.
IDW has been publishing the TMNT comics since August of 2011, and they’ve done a great job. The story so far has been very good and it will be interesting to see what Eastman does on both the story and art front. Reading the Turtles now? Excited about the annual? Let us know.
