SDCC ’12: Iron Man 3 Panel To Showcase Ant-Man Announcement Today?

During the Q&A session after the screening of “Marvel One-Shot: Item 47” a fan asked if Marvel had any plans to introduce AntMan or Wasp in the Avengers sequel. The answer came in the form of a teaser really as host Anthony Breznican advised the fan to make sure he was at the “Iron Man 3” panel happening later today.

The “Iron Man 3” panel will take place today, and if all of this confirms, we can expect that “Iron Man 3” will share a bit of story with Ant-Man or perhaps the two movies relate to each other in some way. We do not know any further details and this may well be something that directly concerns “Ant-Man” (lead actor, release date …) or in the other hand just the eagerly awaited official confirmation of  “Guardians of the Galaxy” for the 2014 slot .

Either way, i think its fair to say that we wont see “Ant-Man” on the big screen in 2014.

Back in mid June Wright spent about a week shooting some footage for a reel that will show how the film will look and decide if Ant-Man’s powers look good onscreen.

This never got confirmed obviously but if a test reel has been shot, it means Marvel is seriously trying to move it forward. I wouldn’t hold my breath, but there is a chance there could be a sneak peek of it later today.

If there is any hope for “Ant-Man”, it’s that Wright is on it. Which would naturally lead to expectations that his take will be much more comedic in tone. And to me, that’s the best way to tackle a property like this.
