Scott Snyder To Step Away From Swamp Thing Writing Duties

Yesterday it was announced that Gail Simone would be leaving Batgirl in what sounded to be a nasty split occurring via email. Today another big shake-up occurs, but this one seems to be amicable. Scott Snyder, the DC golden boy writing some of the companies best books, is stepping away from Swamp Thing.
Bleeding Cool is reporting that Snyder is going to step away to manage his workload better. He has a new series with Vertigo coming up, next year’s Superman with Jim Lee, his regular work with Batman, and America Vampire which is on a bit of a hiatus. Snyder had steered Swamp Thing back to notoriety in the DC Universe with stories like Rotworld, which saw Swampy take part in a crossover with Animal Man.
There is no word as of yet who will be taking over Swamp Thing, but BC says they hear a recent Image Comics creator will be picking up writing duties. With two high profile books losing their writers and the announcement of Jim Starlin coming back to DC to write an ongoing series, there is a lot going on in the DC editorial department. What do you think about Snyder stepping down from Swamp Thing? Who would you like to see take up the pen?
