Saoirse Ronan Talks About Her STAR WARS VII Audition
Saoirse Ronan passed on joining The Avengers, but now she’s trying to book a ticket for a galaxy far, far away. The actress recently revealed that she went in to read for JJ Abrams Star Wars VII. The audition is obviously highly secretive and a lot of actors and actresses are going in and reading for the film, but Ronan recently opened up about the process with the folks at Empire.
While chatting on the site’s latest podcast and after talking about her new movie, Ronan briefly commented on what she had to do when she went in to read for the film:
Yeah, I did [audition for Star Wars Episode VII]… I don’t know whether I should have said that now! I mean, everyone did. Everyone has auditioned for it. So many people I know have gone in for the part I’ve gone in for, and guys who’ve gone in for a particular part, so I’d imagine J.J. is probably just scanning the earth to find the people that he needs.”
But nobody has a clue what it’s about, and nobody’s read the script. So I’ve gone in and read for it, but I have to say, I think it’s the only time I’ve ever thought, ‘You know what? Even if I don’t get it, I had so much fun auditioning, pretending to take out a lightsaber – out of a bag, kind of inspect it and not know what it is. That was… that was great. A lightsaber! Star Wars!
I’d say that’s probably the most we’ll hear from anyone about the audition process for the highly secretive, and highly anticipated, Episode VII. Everyone and their grandmother would kill for a part in the film and if they do get lucky enough to actually go in and audition, they’re not going to ruin it by blabbing. Ronan has been rumored for roles for everything from a female villain to Han Solo‘s daughter. There’s no telling what sort of part she’s actually being brought in to read for. She’s become a highly sought actress as of late, so it’s no surprise she’s being courted for Star Wars. She passed on the Scarlet Witch for Age of Ultron for unknown reasons, but could it have been because she knew things were going to happen with Star Wars? What do you think about Ronan‘s comments?
