Ryan Reynolds Is Still Optimistic That A DEADPOOL Movie Will Get Made
Ever since X-Men Origins: Wolverine was release and featured Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, people have been begging for a movie that centered around The Merc With A Mouth. Fans, and creators on the project have gotten their hopes up time and time again that the movie will get made soon, only to have them dashed by a studio that seems to have cold feet on the project.
Well that could be coming to an end soon as Ryan Reynolds is saying they are looking to do everything possible, including working with a minimal budget to get the film made. “Its current iteration the movie’s actually very small,” Reynolds revealed to Yahoo. “There’s minimal impact to the studio, which is the way we’re kind of presenting it to them. We’re saying ‘Look, the budget is minimal. Therefore, can we do this the way it should be done?’ Which unfortunately needs a Rated R or it needs those elements.”
Reynolds admits that he knows the film is risky, and admits to the script has leaked online. However, he gushes about the character when talking about him and the type of world he lives in by saying, “I mean the character knows he’s in a movie, he knows he’s in a comic book. He names studio executives in the script. So, it’s kind of a risky property. But, you know, we’ll see.”
Despite the moving being developed over a long period of time, Reynolds holds optimism that the movie will see the light of day. When he was asked if Deadpool will ever get made he responded, “In our lifetime? Yeah, I think so. I think if I were a betting man it’ll get made, eventually. I mean it’s just been developed to high heaven. It has great people around it, so we’ll see.”
I personally would love to see a Deadpool movie get made. I think if done right this particular movie could change the way comic book movies get made. However, with this particular movie, nothing is for sure until you are sitting in front of a screen waiting for the movie to start. Like Reynolds said, we will just have to wait and see.
