Rumor: Star Wars VII Might Have A December 2015 Release Date
Another day, another Star Wars rumor. This one doesn’t have anything to do with possible returning actors or Force ghosts. The latest rumor about Disney and JJ Abrams’ new Star Wars flick relates to its possible release date. Badass Digest say they are hearing word that Episode VII could come out in December of 2015. According to the site:
Multiple sources have told me that right now Disney and Lucasfilm have December circled on their calendars, with a mid-month release – the 15th – being most likely. That would take Star Wars out of the crowded summer and, more importantly, give JJ Abrams and company a couple more months to work on a movie that’s already running a tighter schedule than most of the other Star Wars films.
This would be a pretty big deal for Star Wars. Every other film has come out in May, but Disney has a large summer movie slate for 2015 anyway, and Avengers: Age of Ultron is already scheduled for May. It wouldn’t be the best idea for Disney to release Avengers and Star Wars weeks apart, so one will have to budge. Now to add a little doubt to the rumor, Variety’s Marc Graser said he’s hearing there is no truth to Badass Digest’s report. He went on to say that Abrams and company want to use practical locations, so that will cut down on the amount of CGI and other effects needed. With Disney not making a single Star Wars announcement at D23, it looks like we’ll have to wait a good long while before we hear something official from them. What do you think? Does a December release sound good to you?
