RUMOR: Mads Mikkelsen Being Eyed For DOCTOR STRANGE
Last night, while I’m sure most people were sitting down for a nice meal, the short list of directors for one of Marvel’s next movies, Doctor Strange was revealed. I’ll spare you the detail because Cody wrote it up quite nicely, but it did include a number of directors from a wide variety of film genres. The next logical question is once they nail down a director who will star in the film. Johnny Depp’s name has been floated out there and even took a meeting (along time ago) but nothing ever came of it, and rumors fell silent.
That was until now it would seem. According to Bleeding Cool they have a, “pretty solid Marvel-adjacent source” who says that Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is up for the role of Stephen Strange. They go on to say that he could have already passed or been passed over for the role, and aren’t really sure on the timing of this particular casting report.
Right now the script for Doctor Strange is being redeveloped. Mikkelsen has strong ties to one of the directors that was on the short list, Nikolaj Arcel, as he stared in Royal Affair for him. Bleeding Cool admits that they don’t have a second source to confirm this possible casting for the Sorcerer Supreme so as always make sure to take this with the usual pinch of salt.
