Rumor: LOST Actor Up For Lex Luthor Role In BATMAN VS SUPERMAN
Sadly, we are getting more unconfirmed rumors these days than we are legit facts in regards to the highly anticipated sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The current rumors that are running rampant revolve around a couple of roles that fans have been clamoring for ever since, well foreve,r it seems. Jaimie Alexander continues to drop hints and tidbits about the potential role of Diana, aka Wonder Woman in the film Then there’s the ongoing discussions that Dick Grayson, better known as Nightwing, will likely make an appearance, with Adam Drive, Penn Badgley and Ezra Miller all being rumored for the coveted role.
One role we haven’t heard much about in recent weeks is that of Lex Luthor. The last actor that was rumored for the role was Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame. While I think most of us agree that he’d own the hell out of that role, it isn’t going to happen, as Cranston will be starting a new Broadway project in December that would not allow him to film the Man of Steel sequel. Tonight, however, a new name has emerged for the iconic Superman villain in LOST alum Terry O’Quinn. According to SupermanSupersite, via the Man of Steel Fanpage, the actor is on the studio’s shortlist to play the role of Lex Luthor. Keep in mind that the studio, or anyone associated with the project have confirmed the involvement of Luthor in the film, so this news should be treated strictly as a rumor.
Before you read on, there may some MINOR PLOT SPOILERS ahead, so read on with caution. The above news does corroborate the story that broke last week that schematics for “LexCorp Cybernetics Division” had been revealed, so it’s quite possible that Luthor will have some sort of presence in the film. Just how large of a presence has yet to be seen. Earlier this year, in Man of Steel, you can see a quick glimpse of the LexCorp logo on several trucks. This could mean that we see anything from a building in the back ground or be fully introduced to the Lex Luthor character. Time will tell on this one.Be sure to check back with ComicBookTherapy for more breaking news on the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman project.
Is O’Quinn a god fit for the role? I’m not a big fan of LOST, in fact I stopped watching after one season. But I can say that O’Quinn was one of the stand-outs in the series in his John Locke role. He’d be an interesting choice, certainly an unexpected one.
