Rumor: CHRONICLE Writer Max Landis Working On POWER RANGERS
We are all well aware by now that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are getting the reboot treatment in the form of a new film. The movie will follow five new teenagers given a great power in order to protect the world for impending doom. However, what we don’t know is who exactly is working on it. Sure we know Saban has teamed with major studio Lionsgate, but other than that no names in terms of writers or directors have popped up.
Well that all could have changed. According to the Schmoes Knows guys, Chronicle writer Max Landis has been tasked with bringing the characters to life by writing the script. Not only is he working on the script, but apparently he has already turned in a draft to the film’s producers. Based on the sounds of things it would appear that it’s a first draft, which could see some changed as most first drafts do.
Keep in mind this is not a confirmed report. I have reached out to Lionsgate about the rumor, but I haven’t heard anything back. Landis is a pretty big name for the project that would inject some legitimacy into the franchise that has long been regarded as too kid friendly. While we don’t know for sure if this is true or now, make sure to check back here at Comic Book Therapy for the latest on all things Power Rangers.
