Rumor: Add Jack O’Connell’s Name To The STAR WARS VII List
Its been a while since we heard a Star Wars rumor. J.J. Abrams and company are currently hard at work on the script and casting some of the roles we know nothing about. Tonight a new name has popped up as a potential contender for the highly anticipated film. Keeping with precedent, he’s a Brit too.
Bleeding Cool is reporting that Jack O’Connell (Tower Block, Harry Brown, Skins) has a good shot of landing a key role in Star Wars VII. The site says they’re pretty sure he has met with Abrams and all signs point to it going very well. O’Connell is the latest in a list of actors and actresses attached to the film. Just a few recent names include: Saoirse Ronana, Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Smith, and Jason Flemyng. No Americans have been mentioned to date. Since the film is shooting in the UK it looks like Abrams may be sticking with ‘local’ actors. There are certainly a lot of Brits in the other six Star Wars films, so this isn’t a huge shock.
There is some confusion over whether or not O’Connell is talking to the crew about the role Matt Smith was up for, or if it was for a different part. The only confirmed casting we have for the film is R2-D2, so we’re bound to get at least another name before too long. What do you think about O’Connell getting his hat thrown in the ring?
