Robert Venditti Talks X-O Manowar: Planet Death

Valiant Comics announced a new six-part story for X-O Manowar called Planet Death earlier this week. The story will see New York Times best-selling author Robert Venditti teaming up with Trevor Hairsine. X-O Manowar will try to save Earth from an alien onslaught by launching a one-man invasion of The Vine homeworld. Venditti took part in an hour long question and answer session on Twitter about his upcoming story. I was able to squeeze in a couple of questions.

Since Aric vanished before them during his escape, have the Vine worked on replicating the armor’s abilities to capture him?

Robert Venditti: Too many characters to RT J The Vine have developed their own Shahara-inspired armour.

With Planet Death coming before us, XO should have difficulties facing an entire planet. Will he have unlikely allies?

Venditti- Everyone needs friends.

What is your favorite moment of XO-Manowar so far in the series?

Venditti- Tie between the first flashbacks of Deidre and the Issue 5 face melter.

We’ve seen how XO has been living in the present. Will there be an issue centered on the Vine and how they’ve held up?

Venditti- Lots of Vine backstory coming.

Within the Valiant universe, who is your favorite character and why?

Venditti- Besides Aric? LOVE Rai. Way ahead of his time.

Will we see Aric at his very worse going against The Vine during Planet Death?

Venditti- His most ferocious. So far…

Will there be any repercussions faced during and after the Planet Death mini event?

Venditti-HUGE repercussions

Since his debut he’s very talented, but reckless. What do you think could change his behavior?

Venditti- The wisdom of experience

XO is currently battling Ninjak who’s secretly employed by The Vine. What else can we expect before Planet Death takes place?

Venditti- New Battles. New powers.

It sounds like Planet Death is shaping up to be quite the story. It will be interesting to see what Venditti does with the series. What do you think? Are you ready for X-O Manowar: Planet Death?
