REVIEW! Fables: Werewolves of the Heartland Hardcover

I just received, and in the same day finished reading, one of Bill Willinghams newest Fable stories, an off shoot if you will. Before I delve into the delight I took in reading this story, much as I do with every Fables book, I must say I was extremely happy to see my personal favorite character Bigby Wolf not only get his own book, but also to learn a little more about his back story beyond just being the Big Bad.

Now onto a spoiler free review. As always Willingham tells us a story that is just as gripping as the first books of Fables, but he adds on to what we already know of Bigby. We get to see some of what he has done all these years amongst the Mundys, and how he has kept himself in an out of trouble for the most part. This story takes us to a place called Story Town that is filled with werewolves, not quiet Fables and definitely not Mundys, Bigby is drawn into the issues the town has been having due to Bluebeards death, and suddenly is revered as well as wanted dead. An old friend, some new enemies, and lessons of who and what Bigby Wolf really is take center stage in this epic series.

I am definitely going to keep up on this series, as I have with most Fable stories by Bill Willingham and I highly recommend this story as well as Fables in general to anyone who is looking to get into comics, but not into the superhero side of things.

So stop reading and go buy it!
