Potential Spoilers: New Info On Rhino In The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Let’s go ahead and get the spoiler warning out of the way. This story contains potential spoilers regarding Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich in Marc Webb‘s Amazing Spider-Man 2. If you don’t want to be spoiled, turn back now and check out some of the other great articles on the site.
OK. Those of you who stayed, here’s the info. JoBlo.com has gotten hold of some details regarding whether or not we will see the actual Rhino in the movie. According to the site the sequel will have two villains with Electro and Rhino. We knew that to begin with. They do say however that there will be hints at other villains too. One would probably be Green Goblin since Norman is confirmed for the film. That they say ‘others‘ as in more than one is new and pretty interesting.
But back to Rhino. There had been some speculation that Giamatti would just be a thug nicknamed the Rhino. We had seen him all tatted up and even sporting some Rhino themed underwear in recent set pics. JoBlo says that Aleksei will indeed “transform” into the Rhino throughout the course of the film. Details other than that are scarce:
How the costume will look is still up in the air, but there will be some variation of a metamorphasised Sytsevich at some point during the film (again, I lead you to the Oscorp canister he’s stealing in the recent set pics. I’d bet good money that plays a role in his transformation).
The canister they are referring to is pictured to the side with some snaps from the actual scene below (via Fan-Girl.org). The first set pictures we got of Spider-Man and Aleksei interacting showed the two fighting over the mysterious canister. Now going from what JoBlo says, there are a few possibilities. The formula will turn Aleksei into an actual Rhino-like creature a la Curt Conners/Lizard from the first film, or it’s related to preparing his body to handle whatever form the Rhino suit make take. Going from what Marc Webb has done with the films, the first one is probably the better bet. What do you think? Do you hope it’s an actual suit or do you want a human/Rhino hybrid?
