A Plethora of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Character Art; Plus AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 After-Credits Scene
Earlier this year, Fox teamed with Empire magazine for a massive release of new covers and images featuring the cast of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. The process took the better part of a day to unravel and what stated out as something awesome quickly turned into a tedious, reporting nightmare. Regardless, the images gave us our first glimpse of many of the characters, including some of the newest additions like Blink and Warpath, as well as our first look at the uber high tech futuristic Sentinels.
Today, we have a better look at those images, without all the wording and such from the covers. There really isn’t anything new to report here, except for the absence of Rogue, who was featured in the release of the Empire covers. Shortly before that release, we learned that the character’s part, which is played by Anna Paquin, was nearly trimmed entirely from the film and that she now only has a mere cameo role. One can’t help but think that the magazine deal was struck prior to he role being axed. However, that is complete speculation on my part. You can check out all of the pieces of character art created from the Empire covers and some other international marketing materials below.
Also surfacing today is the after-credits clip that was shown with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. If you’ll remember, the reasoning behind this deal was due to Fox releasing director Marc Webb from a contract to work on The Amazing Spider-Man. So in lieu of working on a new film, Sony allowed Fox to add a new clip on to the film. That clip, which features Mystique, played by Jennifer Lawrence, freeing Havok (Lucas Till), Toad (Evan Jonigkeit) and numerous other mutants from the clutches of William Stryker, played by Josh Helman. can be seen below, courtesy of IGN. Once again, Mystique takes charge and cleans house rather handedly.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to hit theaters on May 23rd, so we have just a few weeks until we get to check it out. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Shawn Ashmore, Bingbing Fan, Lucas Till, Evan Jonigkeit, Adan Canto, Omar Sy and Booboo Stewart all star.
