Peter Mayhew Will Return As Chewbacca For STAR WARS VII
Just a few weeks ago Jake filed a report about evidence starting to pile up that Peter Mayhew would be making a return as Chewbacca in J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars Episode VII ( you can readthat here). Well it turns out all that evidence was right on the money. The Hollywood Reporter is…well, reporting that Mayhew will be reprising his beloved role as Han Solo’s hairy sidekick.
According to the site, the trio of new leads for Disney‘s first installment in a new Star Wars trilogy haven’t been revealed, but another actor from the original franchise is set for a return. Mayhew will return as Han‘s co-pilot and friend in a role of unspecified length. Mayhew‘s health hasn’t been the best as of late, but a recent surgery and continued rehab has vastly improved the 7′ 2” actor’s mobility. He’s able to get around without a wheelchair, though extended periods of standing is still a bit tricky. Mayhew may just have an extended cameo depending on how big of a role Han Solo actually has. The two are inseparable. We’ll just have to wait to see how things play out, but it looks like Mayhew is back in some form or capacity. What do you think?
