Welcome to day three of 31 in 31! Todays movie choice is a foreign movie directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and written by Sergio G. Sanchez, as well as being presented by Guillermo Del Toro.
A lot of people may not want to see this movie simply because it’s all in Spanish and if you don’t speak it fluently then you’ll have to watch it with English subtitles, but please don’t let that one detail deter you from watching this movie. A quick synopsis of “The Orphanage“: Laura, an orphan herself, buys her old house and makes it into an orphanage. Her son then starts to talk to his invisible friend, and from there things start to go wrong. As i don’t like to throw out spoilers my synopsis is really bone dry, but when you see this movie, if you like thrillers and suspense, you’ll enjoy what this movie has to offer you.
Not your conventional type of “horror” based genre movies this brings you a few twists, and more then enough surprises to keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering what may happen next. Through the news I have seen there is quite possibly an American remake for “The Orphanage“coming in the future, I whole heartedly ask you to watch the orignial first, because there is never anything quite like the original as we’ve seen from the remake of “Let the Right One In.”
