Ophelia Lovibond Joins Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Collector Will Also Appear
We still don’t know who will voice Groot or Rocket Raccoon, but a new actress has joined James Gunn‘s growing cast for Guardians of the Galaxy. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Ophilia Lovibond will play an as yet undisclosed role. The character’s name may not be disclosed, but what she’ll be doing is pretty interesting.
According to the site, Lovibond will “play an aide to a being called The Collector, who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from a foretold galactic annihilation.” There have been rumors that several of The Elders of the Universe would be popping up, possibly very briefly, in the film. This seems to add a little plausibility to those rumors. The Collector is a near-immortal being named Taneleer Tivan. The Collector is one of about 15 Elders of the Universe who are incredibly powerful beings. While no casting has been even so much as rumored for The Collector, that may mean it will be forthcoming or he is a behind-the-scenes presence. As for Lovibond, she has appeared in the TV series Titanic: Blood and Steel and the movie Mr. Popper’s Penguins and No Strings Attached. She will join Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax) and Michael Rooker (Yondu) for the film coming out August 1, 2014. What do you think about the new additions?
