Now We Know Where War Machine Was During The Avengers

War Machine’s absence in The Avengers wasn’t explained or touched on in the film. Many fans had hoped for a Rhodey appearance but it didn’t happen. Now thanks to the Iron Man 3 prelude comic book released yesterday, we know why he missed all the action during the Chitauri invasion.

War Machine had some business to take care of in Asia. It turns out Rhodey was thwarting a Ten Rings plot in Hong Kong. While engaged in combat with the terrorist organization, Rhodey gets a call from his old buddy Tony Stark asking for an assist. You can see scans of the relevant pages below. Did you pick up the book? Rhodey was MIA so he could take on the Ten Rings. I’m sure that will play into the next film, don’t you?
