Norman Reedus Teases Season 4 Of The Walking Dead
Walking Dead fans have been counting down the days until the fourth season of the smash-hit AMC show comes back to our televisions this October. As filming begins and things really get rolling on the next installment of the series based on Robert Kirkman‘s creation, we’re starting to hear the cast tease what’s in store. Norman Reedus, fan-favorite redneck heartthrob Daryl Dixon, recently called in to a Sirius XM show to talk about his new book, his art, and of course The Walking Dead.
Reedus obviously can’t reveal much about what’s coming up in the new season, but he did tease some the scale of the new episodes and even hinted at some new developments with the zombies:
The scripts this season are just amazing. The sets are crazy. It feels like we’ve shot about three movies already. It’s super intense, and everything’s for a specific reason, and it’s great right now. They’ve introduced a way to make zombies scary again, and they’re terrifying. The new threat is just unreal. I can’t of course tell you what that is, but it’s brilliant writing.
As we all know, Glen Mazzara stepped down as the series’ showrunner and Scott Gimple will be stepping up to take on the job. Gimple has written several episodes and has been involved with the show for a while. Reedus touches on the transition and how it’s not going to be a big change for those involved:
Yes, of course, with new people there’s chance. But also, when Frank was the showrunner, Glenn was his number two, so we knew Glenn. And when Glenn took off, we already knew Scott. As far as the internal group, we’re all the same people, but the structure of the writing’s a bit different, and it’s so intense. These are our best scripts so far.
At the end of season 3 we saw a big group from Woodbury moving into the prison with Rick and his crew. Daryl is still working on some trust issues and is especially fragile after losing his brother Merle, so how does he feel about all the new people moving in?
Daryl’s got a little bit different responsibility right now. We all do. People have sort of fallen into their crevices so to speak, who they are within this group and what they contribute. There’s a whole bunch of different elements to that. When you find people that are alive and can contribute and help build something, everyone takes a helm and everyone takes responsibility for it. There’s also all these new personalities as well, you just have to watch.
