No Agent Coulson In Avengers: Age of Ultron Says Joss Whedon
Last year, our favorite agents met his maker…or so we thought. Agent Coulson is now back in this Fall’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but many are wondering if Phil Coulson will make an appearance in the Avengers sequel, “Age of Ultron”. According to Joss Whedon, don’t expect him to strut into frame.
In an interview with Associated Press, Whedon reveals that Coulson is not in his current draft of the sequel. When asked if he could still return for the sequel Whedon had this to say:
“He could. Right now it’s not something I’m pursuing because I have so much going on in ‘Avengers 2.’ Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That’s better than the other thing.”
Whedon went on to talk about the importance of crossovers, and how he must separate TV from film.
“But we also have the movies and we have TV and we need to make sure there’s some crossover, but not so much that people go, ‘Well, I don’t need to see that movie. I saw it on TV.’ If we do that (Marvel Studios President) Kevin Feige is going to come after me with a pitchfork.”
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comes to the small screen September 24th at 8pm and Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1st 2015.
