Nine Minutes Of Star Trek Into Darkness To Play Before The Hobbit
The ever mysterious J.J. Abrams and his even more mysterious Star Trek sequel will finally let fans get a peek at the highly anticipated sequel December 14. It is being reported that Paramount Pictures will release the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness on 500 IMAX 3D screens in front of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit.
The first 9 minutes will be the first look at the film that is released in May of next year. Deadline states this is the first time exclusive footage will play in IMAX 3D and only the third time a first look will be released. Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment commented on the footage:
Our longtime partners J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and the Bad Robot team have really hit it out of the park – the footage is absolutely incredible. Their use of the IMAX Camera and canvas is sure to impress current and future Star Trek fans alike, and we’re thrilled to once again work with our friends at Paramount Pictures to offer this extended ‘first look’ at this highly anticipated summer blockbuster.
So if you needed another reason to go see The Hobbit in IMAX there it is. J.J. Abrams used IMAX cameras to film several sequences of the film, so it will be exciting to see the footage in that format. What do you think Trekkies? Are you ready for the first 9 minutes?
